Social Impact Assessment Monitoring
Based on the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) conducted by Asrama Raya Sdn Bhd, there was no local community and indigenous people live in HS Petuang / Petuang Forest Reserve. None of the land or areas owned by local community or indigenous people was used for forest operation.
Kampung (Kg.) Payong is the only village located nearby ARSB HS Petuang concession. ARSB always always give support to local community through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) yearly program. There was no direct effect of forest operation to local community of Kg. Payong. Local community of Kg. Payong do not any animal, do not own any hunting license, do not harvest any timber and collect any non-timber forest products from ARSB HS Petuang concession. The local community also do not use the water sources from Petuang river.
In order to easily access to ARSB HS Petuang concession, ARSB used small areas owned by local community of Kg. Payong to construct forest road. The road construction has brought some beneficial and adverse impact on the local community. The positive impacts are job opportunities, easy access for the local community to their oil palm and rubber estates, paid for the land rental. The potential landscape degradation, road related safety and pollution, loss or damage to the land (property).

Payong. - ARSB also obtain feedback from MPKK and local community whether ARSB’s lorry driver slow down speed limit or not when pass by Kg. Payong. |
